2. Scope

Connectively is a digital city center ecosystem of communicators, which allows users to build relationships and find opportunities.

Cision has published this Privacy Notice to inform the various user types about what Personal Data (this also includes Personally Identifiable Information) may be collected when they use the Connectively platform, how it is used and their rights regarding it.

 

3. What Personal Data We Collect

We limit what we collect to the minimum necessary to achieve our purpose of providing you with a smooth, efficient and customized experience.

Personal Data Types

This may include:

  • your name
  • title
  • email address
  • country location
  • associated websites
  • outlets bios and social handles.

If we bill you for using Connectively, you may be required to provide certain additional information, including, but not limited to your credit card and/or bank account billing information.

As a user of Connectively, what we collect may depend upon which of the below personas you are: 

Creator (including Journalists and Influencers)

Creates content that their followers find interesting. May also be referred to as an influencer. Requires input to create content. Typical roles include

  • Social Media Influencer
  • "Professional" Influencer
  • The "Coach" (i.e., fitness or nutrition influencer)
  • The Blogger (i.e., travel blogger)
  • The Podcaster
  • Freelance Writer
  • Broadcast Journalist
  • Newspaper Journalist
  • Magazine Feature Writer
  • Production Editor
  • Radio Host
  • Beat Reporter
  • Freelance Journalist

Expert

Creates content on specialist subjects. Typical roles include

  • Professionals giving advice or marketing their services (i.e., finance, lawyer, doctor, engineer).
  • Writers who have become experts over time.
  • Influencers in a specific niche (i.e., personal training, nutrition).

Communications Professional

Manages the public perception of their customers and provides content from them to Journalists and Creators. Typical roles include

  • Public Relations Consultant
  • Content Marketing Professional
  • Independent SEO Specialist
  • Brand Management Consultant
  • Freelance Publicist

For all these groups, we may also collect information on your usage of Connectively to help us improve our service offering to you.

Children

Connectively is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect personal data relating to children.

 

4. How We Collect Your Personal Data

If you are an existing user of Cision’s Help A Reporter Out (HARO) service, we will use information we already hold on you to create a profile for you on Connectively.  We then ask you to claim your profile at which point you can verify, amend or remove it.

Alternatively, we may collect the information from you directly when you sign up to become a Connectively user.

We may also add to your profile using Personal Data, which we currently hold in our other databases and then ask you to claim your profile at which point you can verify, amend or remove it. This is likely to include data like your name, contact information, outlets and topics you write about.

Connectively may also collect Personal Data when you use the platform.

For example, if you browse through the website and read the information contained on the web pages, we may gather certain information about your visit automatically, such as your IP address, the date and time you access a given page and the pages you visit.

Cookies and Tracking

We may use cookies or other tracking technology to:

  • Identify and authenticate you so that we can provide you with the required services
  • Identify you when you return , so that you need not log in each time you return.
  • Protect us and you from malicious actors, eg bots.
  • Understand your platform usage to improve our service offerings.
     

5. The purposes for which we will use your Personal Data

We use information to provide the Connectively services to you, in particular allow other users to view your information and contact you to help you exchange opportunities and build relationships.

We also use information we obtain from your activities in Connectively to improve our services and protect you in the event of misunderstandings.

Your Personal Data will be stored and processed on our computers in the United States.

6. Legal basis for processing your personal data

Legitimate Interest

We process your Personal Data in order to create an ecosystem of communicators which allows you to build relationships and find opportunities.

We believe that it is in our legitimate business interests to do so.

Processing your data in this way also benefits you  and our customers as you will exchange focused information with other users which may often be ahead of general release, giving you material  that is relevant to you and your audience.

If you are providing this information, you are able to focus on the most appropriate audiences for your content via the relationships you choose to forge with the users you select.  

We do not use your personal data for activities where we believe that our interests are overridden by any unwarranted adverse impact on you.

Consent  

You also choose to provide us with your Personal Data when you create your own profile.

You may withdraw your consent or remove your Personal Data at any time by:

7. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Information

We share your Personal Data with:

  • Other users of Connectively, in response to any searches they make.
  • Analytics partners, for the purposes of service improvement and
  • Payment processors, for any element of our services which you choose to pay for. See here for more information
  • Other third parties, if Connectively is required to respond to court orders, subpoenas, or other legal process.
  • Members of the Connectively team, who need to access your information in order to provide Connectively service to you.  
     

8. Your Use of Users’ Information

You will have the ability to search for other users based on a name, topic, publication, location or any other relevant information in their profile.

If you at any time feel that another user is not using your Personal Data in line with any of the purposes in this notice, please contact us immediately at   Support@connectively.us

 

9. How to have your profile amended or removed.

Your profile information is viewable by other users but you will be able to amend or delete your profile yourself at any time.

10. How long will we use your Personal Data?

We will keep your Personal Data in Connectively for as long as you wish to keep your profile live on it.

If you pay us to use Connectively we will hold your Personal Data for the period you pay us and will continue to hold it for a period of 2 years after you stop paying us.

If you do not pay us to use Connectively we will hold onto your Personal Data for a period of 2 years after you last logged in.

You can erase your profile yourself or ask us to do it at any time.

 

11. Security

We use industry standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect the privacy and confidentiality of information you give to us.

12. Amendments

We may amend this notice from time to time to reflect any changes in the Connectively service.  

 

13. International Transfers

Connectively is hosted in the USA. We may share your personal data with entities within the Cision group of companies. This may involve transferring your personal data outside of the European Economic Area (EEA).

Where your personal data is transferred outside of the EEA we do so in accordance with Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission to ensure that there is an adequate level of protection for your personal data.

 

14. Your Rights

You have rights under various data protection laws, which include the right to:

  • Access your personal information (via what is commonly known as a "data subject access request").
  • Require us to correct any mistakes in your information which we hold.
  • Require the erasure of personal information concerning you in certain situations by submitting a Data Subject Request.
  • Receive the personal information concerning you which you have provided to us and have the right to transmit those data to a third party in certain situations.
  • Object at any time to processing of personal information concerning you.
  • Object to decisions being taken by automated means (including profiling) which produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you.
  • Object in certain other situations to our continued processing of your personal information.
  • Have us not sell your Personal Information
  • Otherwise restrict our processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
